The Lamberts began homeschooling in 1982. Their oldest daughter, Becky, is married and has three children of her own and works part-time for Five in a Row as a curriculum developer like her mother. Their younger daughter Carrie graduated from college in 2002 and was married just a month later. She also works part-time for Five in a Row. Jane's 16+ years of teaching experience and her lifelong love of children's literature have been combined to produce Five in a Row and Before Five in a Row.

    

     Steve and Jane Lambert celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in 2007 and travel together several months each year speaking at homeschool conventions and workshops across the United States.
