Convention Features
Book Fair Only – The Book Fair will have a one-day pass for $25.00 per family not
wishing to attend the entire convention. The pass is good for either Friday or Saturday
of the convention. The Book Fair hours will be Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and
Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Children must remain with their parents at all times.
If the Exhibit area becomes too crowded, we may ask that strollers be stored outside
the Exhibit area. A “check-in station” will be manned by volunteers if this becomes
necessary.
Children’s Conference – Friday and Saturday, we will hold a Children’s Conference
for ages 4-11. Children who wish to participate should be registered on the pre-registration
form as space will be limited and will be filled on a “first come, first served”
basis. Label and bring the following items from home: a pillow/cushion and pencil
for each child, and crayons, scissors and a glue stick (or school glue). Items (like
crayons) may be shared as siblings will not be separated. You may request that children
from different households be placed together by making note of that on the pre-registration
form. We will gladly honor these requests where possible. Saturday, at 3:15 p.m.,
the children will do a special presentation.
Registration
Pre-registration forms must be postmarked no later than July 3, 2008. The pre-registration
price is $40.00 per individual (no additional charge for spouse) with a $5.00 discount
if your family is a member of a support group affiliated with CHEF of Louisiana.
On-site registration is $50.00 per individual (no additional charge for spouse)
with NO membership discount given.
Supportive grandparents are so beneficial to home school families, we consider them
honored guests. Grandparents may attend with registered families at no charge! Please
include their names on the pre-registration form for name tag purposes.
Any registered family who wishes to invite their non-home schooling senior pastor,
state or local elected official, or Child Welfare and Attendance officer may do so
at no charge. Please print their names and titles clearly on the BACK of your registration
form so that we may prepare name tags and informative resource packets especially
for them.
Rebate Offer: How would you like to go to the convention free? If you attended convention
last year, you are eligible to receive a rebate this year. When you pre-register,
include the form and payment of a family that did not attend last year, in the envelope
with your form and payment, (all registrations must be sent at the same time). CHEF
of Louisiana will verify the information and you will receive a rebate check from
us in your pre-registration packet, at the convention, for $10.00. If you include
two families that did not attend last year, you will receive a $20.00 check. To
attend free, include three families that did not attend last year with your pre-registration
and their’s with all payments and you will get a rebate check for $35.00. If you
are a member of a local CHEF group you have now attended free. If you are not a
member of a local group, you would have only paid $5.00. Rebate is only available
to those pre-registered by the deadline of July 3, 2008 and will be subject to verification
of last year's attendance. No additional rebates will be issued at the convention.
